Speaker: Sridevi Devaraj PhD, DABCC, FADLM, FRSC
Sridevi Devaraj, Ph.D., DABCC, FADLM is the Medical Director of Clinical Chemistry, Mass Spectrometry and Point of Care at Texas Children’s Hospital and Professor of Pathology & Immunology at Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, TX, USA. Dr. Devaraj received her B.S.in Zoology from Ethiraj College, University of Madras, India, in 1987. In 1989, she received an M.S. (Clinical Biochemistry) degree from the Post-graduate Institute of Basic Medical Sciences, Madras, India, and a Ph.D. (Biochemistry) in 1994. She joined the Center for Human Nutrition, University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas, Dallas, Texas in 1994 as a fellow in nutrition and then in clinical chemistry. In 1998, she was appointed as Instructor of Clinical Chemistry in the Department of Pathology. In 1999, she became Assistant Professor in the Division of Clinical Biochemistry and Human Metabolism at UT Southwestern. She joined University of California, Davis Medical Center in 2002, and rose to the rank of Professor, in 2011, she took her present positions at Baylor College of Medicine Houston TX. She is currently serving on the ADLM as Secretary of the Academy and is a titular member of the C-NPU at the IFCC and is also a fellow of the Royal College of Chemistry. She also serves on the ComACC committee and is currently Chair of the Health Equity and Access Division of the ADLM. Her main research is in diabetes, inflammation, biomarkers and microbiome as well as pediatric clinical chemistry. She is the author of over 425 publications, and has received several accolades for her work including the Outstanding Young Investigator Award from AACC and George Grannis Award from the National Academy of Clinical Biochemistry, Young Investigator Award, Amerrcan Heart Association, Cooper and Zak Awards from AACC. She is also the recipient of research grants from the National Institutes of Health.
