Angela Ma
PhD, D(ABMM), FCCM
Dr. Angela Ma is a Clinical Microbiologist at Public Health Ontario overseeing the Mycobacteriology Laboratory section.
She is holds a PhD in Laboratory Medicine and Pathology with Specialization in Molecular Pathology from the University of Alberta and completed a CPEP-accredited fellowship in Medical and Public Health Laboratory Microbiology at the University of Utah and ARUP Laboratories.
She is a Diplomat of the American Board of Medical Microbiology and a Fellow of the Canadian College of Microbiologists. Angela provides technical and scientific guidance on diagnostic testing, and supports outbreak investigation and laboratory surveillance of tuberculosis.
Research synopsis
Dr. Angela Ma's research interests include molecular diagnostics and epidemiology of pathogens, antimicrobial resistance, and applications for next generation sequencing to support microbiological diagnostics and public health surveillance efforts.
